Mossel Bay offers many safe beaches, a river-lagoon at Hartenbos river, the Garden Route Casino (which hosts the annual Miss Garden Route and Klein Karoo) and Outeniqua Choo-Tjoe Train.

On the 24th of September 2007, Mossel Bay had a centenary celebration commemorating the opening of the 1907 Mossel Bay to George Line. Mossel Bay is now once again included on the Outeniqua Choo-Tjoe Train route.
